The film is a personal tribute to the evergreen icon and legend of Hindi Cinema - 'Shri Raj Kapoor', by his five children – Randhir Kapoor, Ritu Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Rima Jain and Rajiv Kapoor. Produced by R.K Films and Studios, the film stands out in its experimentation with form and weaves a narrative that alternates with biographical and autobiographical elements. The autobiographical segments uses his own words culled from interviews, journals and anecdotes, to provide an intimate glimpse into the mind of a genius. Whereas, the biographical nature of the form is an attempt to record for posterity the lesser-known facets of his magnificent personality through the recollections of his family, colleagues and friends. The culmination of both helps us to understanding of ideas and ideals that are strewn together in not just Raj Kapoor's films but in his personal life, too. The film has had a wide reception among cinephiles in film festivals all around the world. It was also screened at Cannes Film Festival, in 2002.
